The Pritkin diet is not just a healthy weight loss diet; it is a diet for life.




It is a diet assembled together by Nathan Pritkin sometimes in the fifties.

Initially this diet was indicated to patients with cardiac problems, containing aliments beneficent to the heart.

The diet then was improved by Robert Pritkin, who transformed it in a real weapon against obesity. It isn't the type of diet promising you a 10 kilogram weight loss in 7 days; it is rather a healthy diet, strongly recommended by health care specialists and nutritionists.

The Pritkin diet is not just a simple weight loss procedure; it may become a healthy alimentation habit for a life time. You will lose weight easy and constantly in time, without challenging your organism and endanger it with weight fluctuations, yo-yo effect, stripes, lose skin or vitamin and mineral loss.


The diets principles




The Pritkin diet aims a healthy life style, targeting alimentation as well as physical activity.

According to Pritkin's visions the aliments allowed by the diet are divided in 3 categories: good aliments, very good aliments, and beneficent aliments.

The allowable aliments have low "calorie concentration", but are rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber and water: vegetables and fruits (consumed with discretion), whole cereals and weak meat.

Aliments rich in fat and carbs are forbidden. Aliments with high "caloric concentration" are also forbidden: this category includes semi-prepared aliments, pastries and semi-prepared fat.

Alcohol consumption is also not recommended. Coffee is allowed, however in small quantity and the decaf version is preferred.

The three major meals should be respected and two snacks included at fix hours is supported by Pritkin.

The Pritkin diet - a program for life

Aside nutrition, the Pritkin diet promotes the importance of physical activity. Pritkin recommends 30 minutes of daily exercise, acknowledging any kind of movement. The meals are relatively reduced but often and frequent. Pritkin recommends aliments rich in carbs before physical exercises as they are a great source of energy. Some aliments should not be missing from the daily menu, like whole grains (wheat, barley, oats), vegetables, fruits, natural juice, as it assures the vitamin and mineral necessity of the organism. In overall, the Pritkin diet is not just an easy and healthy weight loss diet, it is also a diet for life assuring an optimal health till the old ages.
